Scrubbing Dust

Scrubbing Dust
Reem Khamis, Latin Patriarchal School

one day
you will find the way

you will find yourself standing
with no blame

one day
you will be there
with no shame

there, where everything is possible
there you will see the stars,
and will be asking

who'll be the last one to remain

when will you stop wondering
and finally accept the truth ?!

children will fly over there
just glowing, with no care

one day, this child will be there..
standing in front of this great wall
with a big question mark within his soul

one day, life will be clear enough  for him
to get his rights
and to be a hero and crush this wall
to be a hero at cruelity's funeral..

but this question mark is standing right there,
deep within me,

wondering when he will be there,
scrubbing the dust off of life's bitterness

Close Your Eyes and Fly

Close Your Eyes and Fly
Anonymous, Latin Patriarchal School

You know
Sometimes you do things… (hurt people but then
You regret)
You swear you won’t do it again…but then you forget
You hate yourself, you start to feel ashamed

You wish there was something that you could do to wash away the pain
You – it’s the blue sky and butterflies again
You look in the mirror and say What a monster
I’ve become

You wish you could fix it but everything’s still the same
Maybe it’s me or maybe I should blame
Maybe it’s the friends who have become traitors
But eventually no one ever really cares
But you’re still stuck right there, thinking of what you did
But you’re still stuck right there, thinking of what you did

But why can’t we just move on?
Learn that what we did wasn’t right, it was wrong
And remember that mistakes have made us who we are
We’re just humans… yeah, that’s what we are

Just take a little brake, stop, and smile
Pretend you have wings, close your eyes and fly
Imagine that everything is ok again
When you wake up, you’ll see that it really is…
